Intro to my Book Blog

Hi friends!

This is a very exciting journey that I’m beginning. For what feels like a lifetime, I have asked myself what is it that I really want to do? My goal in life is to find joy in the things I pursue. I cannot fathom living my entire life waking up doing something day after day that feels like a drag and weighs me down. So I decided to look inward, because that’s so easy right?

First and foremost, I have always been drawn towards reading and writing since I was a very young child. The first series I ever read (after Junie B. Jones, of course!) were the Little House on the Prairie novels. Just typing out the name of those books brings so much nostalgia. I used to sit in my little nook from sunup to sundown reading and reading… and reading. And that has carried through to my adult life. I can always get lost in a good book.

When it comes to writing, I had that exact same pull. I used to sit up in my room on my desktop computer (yes Gen Z, I’m ancient), and create short stories that I would share with my mother. I dreamt of one day becoming an author.

Life isn’t always so linear though, and that’s ok. When I went off to college, I knew I wanted to pursue writing. I majored in Journalism and quickly realized it was not a good fit for me. At that point, I got scared. Growing up with a successful mom in business, I decided that was the safe route and left my dreams of writing behind out of fear and went into business management.

The entirety of my professional life up to this point has been in the business industry, up until I had my wonderful daughter and made the decision to stay at home with her. I’m grateful for this time I get to spend with her, and this decision ultimately brought me back to what I have always loved – reading and writing.

I am in two book clubs and read about 4 books per month. I decided to combine the two things I love to do and create a book blog. Here I will review my favorite reads, and my not so favorite reads. I encourage you to join in on the conversation and give your own reviews and insights on the books. I can sit for hours reading the Goodreads reviews on a book I just highly rated, while seeing that others gave it 2 stars. I appreciate opinions and perspectives on the exact same piece of art that I just finished reading, and how they can sometimes widely vary. I am also very open to taking book recommendations!!!!

So that’s a little bit about me. I hope you enjoy coming along with me on this journey as much as I will.
